Making Memories in Bristol

You may or may not know we spent the last 9 days in transit to and from Bristol, Tennessee and 7 of the days were spent on the property of Bristol Dragway for the NHRA Summit Junior Dragster Eastern Conference Finals. This is our fifth year attending this fantastic event with over 500 kids competing from ages 6-17. Our first trip was our best by far and we have been snake bit ever since. This year we were fortunate enough to get past first round in all four races we entered and Braylon made it to the fifth round in Tuesday’s age group race. We left without any hardware but the car was running perfect all week in all 16 passes we made thanks to some new insight from Al and Fred from Craw’s Racing about our tune up. The track conditions really weren’t an issue and the driver made good finish line decisions and had flashes of consistency on the starting line.

We made some new friends and we can’t thank our pit neighbor Shawn Nevin and his family for helping us from the moment we pulled into our pit and throughout the week. They gave us a safe dry place to store our car at night since our trailer becomes our home for the week with almost all the comforts of home. We were entrusted with a key to their trailer and they packed up our pit and awning when one of the typical Bristol storms blew in while we were out picking up Chick-Fil-A. These guys were first class all the way and I’m glad to extend our racing family.

We had the chance to do some zip lining and hit a local distillery or two on one of our “days off.” Something we haven’t taken the time to do before but it was good to get out with the Witkowskis.

It was bittersweet seeing the family of Mike Boss and the guys from Mike Bos Chassis Craft with the recent passing of Mike Sr. but the memorial service on Monday morning left few with dry eyes. It was different not seeing Mike at his booth in the midway but we were glad to be on hand to learn more about the man.

Thank you to Bobby Pennabaker, Bethany Fluck and KK Kershner for going lots of rounds in the big race and keeping us excited.

Thanks to all the families that helped in various ways like Christina Ketterer and Kristy Brinkman for all your preparations and decorating skills for our stands.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again next weekend at the Summit Racing Junior Dragster Challenge at Maple Grove and then it’s off to Numidia Dragway the following weekend for another Summit Challenge and then Numidia the following weekend for the NHRA Division 1 Junior Dragster event.

Thanks to Jason Allen and ProThings for our Team Maple Grove shirts, Michael Boccella and Boccella’s Performance for the methanol for the Lucas Oil TV junior dragster we run, DJ Safety and Pyrotect Safety Gear for keeping Braylon safe, Lucas Oil for a great line of products, Hoosier Mid-Atlantic for the great JR1 tires and NGK Spark Plugs for your support.
